PVC Card Badge FAQ
Common questions about PVC badges for events
What is a PVC card badge?
A PVC card badge is a premium plastic event badge with the thickness and feel of a credit card (0.76 mm). It carries your full-colour event artwork and is more durable than a paper badge, so it holds up through multi-day events and frequent handling.
What sizes do PVC card badges come in?
We offer six sizes: 110 × 160 mm, 100 × 140 mm, 90 × 130 mm, 80 × 120 mm, 70 × 100 mm and 54 × 86 mm (credit card size). You can compare them drawn to scale in the size section on this page.
How are attendee names printed on PVC badges at the event?
The PVC cards are pre-printed with your event branding and design. At check-in, each attendee's name, company and QR code is printed on a clear transparent sticker in about 2 seconds and applied to the card.
Why is a transparent sticker used for instant printing?
Large PVC card sizes do not have an onsite printer, so the cards themselves have to be printed in advance. Printing the personal details on a clear transparent sticker is what makes instant onsite printing possible on a large PVC card. It is especially useful for guests whose badges were not pre-printed, such as walk-ins and late registrations: their name is printed on a sticker at check-in and applied to a pre-printed card, so they receive the same premium badge as everyone else.
Can the badge include a QR code or barcode?
Yes. QR codes and barcodes are printed on the sticker along with custom fields such as name, title and company.
What happens with walk-ins and last-minute name changes?
Because the personal details are printed on demand at check-in, walk-ins and late changes to names or companies are handled on the spot, and no personalised badges are wasted on people who do not attend.
Can we use our own design and branding?
Yes. The card design is fully customisable to match your event branding, with full-colour logo and graphics. The layout of the printed name sticker can be customised as well.
Can PVC card badges be printed on both sides?
Yes. Single-sided printing (4C) is full colour on the front only, and double-sided printing (4C/4C) is full colour on the front and back. A printed back is where the agenda, floor plan, venue wifi or sponsor logos usually go.
What finishing options are available for PVC badges?
There are three finishes: glossy, which is the standard finish; matte, which is soft and non-reflective; and frosted, which is textured and premium.
What lanyard hole and corner options are there?
Cards can have a single slot, three slots, or a slot with two round holes, and either rounded or sharp corners. Use the options in the size section above to see how each looks.
When should I choose PVC badges over paper badges?
Paper badges are the most cost-effective choice. PVC badges are the premium option, and suit multi-day conferences, sporting events, high-end corporate events and finance-industry events where durability and presentation matter.
Can PVC card badges be reused?
Yes. PVC cards are durable enough to be collected after the event and reused for future events.
